To function is to exist, per se,but to exist is not necessarily sentient and for most of us, to exist means to participate in life on more than one level at a time.

Sentient Properties is not like any book you may have read before and it is rather holt and to the point without unnecessary rhetoric or jargon. In fact, there are only a few things that are said in the book and only those words that actually relate to the properties of what it means to be sentient.

And as much as is said, what is not said is just as important as what is said in defining what it means to be a sentient life form in the physical or metaphysical Universe all around us. This book is not without its flaws.

It doesnt entertain as much as it provokes, outlines, manifests and derides. It is also not without its pluses, given its penchant for morose observations and tepid indications about social well-being and evolution of the species of man. That is not to exclude the properties of man himself in the mix, but that being said, it is also not to exclude the properties of other animals in the same subgroup of activity, like dolphins and whales, tortoises and horses and household beings like some birds and other mammals who are small enough to fit under your roof. Sentient Properties is terse in a good way since it leaves nothing to the imagination and if it isnt included in this book, it doesnt exist as a sentient quality, bar none or one, and that property is pride.

To have pride is to be sentient beyond other normal capacities of basic living organisms like flowers and other non-sentient animals. To have pride is to be sentient, and as the publishers of this fine work, we are proud to say that it is, pardon the expression, sublime beyond our capacity to reciprocate.
